Prestigious Frost & Sullivan Award is presented each year to the company that is best positioned to expand its customer base through innovative value creation and enhancement strategies
FREMONT Calif. (April 5, 2006) –@Road®, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARDI), a global provider of next-generation solutions for Mobile Resource Management (MRM), today announced that the Company has received Frost & Sullivan’s 2006 Customer Value Enhancement Award for developing the @Road® AppSmart™ on-demand technology and service delivery platform. AppSmart is a next-generation @Road MRM solution platform designed to enable businesses to deliver integrated field service applications with advanced location intelligence, mobile device independence and a higher level of business performance on demand. AppSmart is built upon an existing @Road product and technology portfolio and extends the @Road vision for an on-demand application platform designed to serve the needs of medium-sized businesses as well as the complex field service delivery requirements of large enterprises.
The Frost & Sullivan Customer Value Enhancement (CVE) Award recognizes the company that is best positioned to expand its customer base, while maintaining its existing install base, through more innovative value creation and enhancement strategies than competing vendors. Additionally, this Award recognizes the company’s successful sales entry, customer acquisition and service delivery strategies, and the degree to which those strategies meet customers’ stated needs and requirements. Such innovation, according to the award, is expected to significantly improve customer interaction and contribute to customer satisfaction.
“@Road has successfully identified the major challenges, drivers, and restraints in the MRM environment and has addressed market dynamics with sound strategic solutions such as AppSmart,” said Brent Iadarola, mobile communications industry research manager with Frost and Sullivan, a global growth consulting company. “By deploying this innovative on-demand technology platform, @Road has re-enforced its position as a clear market leader in the MRM space.”
Iadarola added that the uptake in the on-demand environment within the MRM industry is expected to be dramatic over the next 5 years. He noted that @Road has now brought end-to-end MRM to bear in an integrated, purposeful manner; and that the result is a tangible increase in the productivity of mobile workers, lower field service delivery costs, and an improved overall customer quality of experience.
“@Road’s success in providing organizations, in a range of vertical markets, with innovative MRM solutions will be tied directly to its on-demand technology and service delivery platform,” Iadarola said. “By continuing to address the evolving demands of their customer base and driving growth by continuing to target high-value customers, @Road has established itself as a clear market leader as ‘Next Generation’ MRM transitions from a competitive advantage today to a competitive requirement tomorrow.”
According to the Frost & Sullivan’s 2006 Customer Value Enhancement Award Measurement Criteria, one of the key shifts in the MRM market moving into 2006 is the change in perception related to field service processes. The customer facing service technicians are increasingly viewed as a repository of key customer information that needs to be tapped into in order to provide a better, integrated service delivery system with better information from back-office systems.
Frost & Sullivan expects the need for faster response time and more efficient service delivery to drive the adoption of Next Generation MRM. Field services technicians, for instance, are increasingly measured in terms of the speed of resolution of a particular problem. Achieving faster response time in resolving customer complaints or customer concerns is directly attributable to the competence of the solution provider and the service delivery platform. The optimal model involves on-demand Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) principles to optimize the creation and delivery of software. The approach is a convenient, cost-effective alternative to the traditional on-premise software and has demonstrated a significantly greater ROI for enterprises.
In this environment, Frost & Sullivan has identified @Road AppSmart, an on-demand technology and service delivery platform that combines @Road location intelligent technology with best practices in administration, business processes, provisioning, serviceability, networking, application integration, monitoring and management. The platform is used to build end-to-end ‘Next Generation’ Mobile Resource Management (MRM) solutions.
“We believe that receiving the Frost & Sullivan award validates our reasoning and strategy for developing the AppSmart on-demand technology and service delivery platform,” said Leo Jolicoeur, @Road chief marketing officer. “We believe that AppSmart can empower businesses with world-class, on demand, MRM solutions that are intended to increase the productivity of their mobile workers, drive down their field service delivery costs and improve their overall quality of service and levels of customer satisfaction.”
Strategically, AppSmart opens the door to an on-demand MRM environment that enables collaboration and application sharing within a community of customers, independent software vendors and third-party application developers. Although AppSmart is currently used as a platform to deliver core @Road MRM solutions, businesses can also use the platform to build new field service applications, customize existing applications for individual business requirements, or integrate applications to meet field service delivery needs.
Research Methodology
To choose a recipient of this Award, the Frost & Sullivan analyst team tracks all new product & service launches, R&D spending, products in development, and new service delivery features and modifications. This is accomplished through interviews with all the market participants, and extensive secondary and technology research. Service delivery platforms are compared and evaluated based on degree of innovation and customer satisfaction. Company install base and revenues are compared year to year to monitor customer response and market expansion. When a company continues to demonstrate solid growth rates, from market expansion and innovative customer acquisition and service strategies, it is a candidate for the Customer Value Enhancement Award.
Measurement Criteria
In addition to the methodology described above, there are specific criteria used to determine the final Award rankings in this industry. The recipient of this Award has excelled based on one or more of the following criteria:
