@Road®® Awarded Eleventh Patent For Distributing Location-Relevant Information

Patent provides a method for automatically processing and delivering location-relevant information to wireless devices

FREMONT, CA - May 11, 2004 - @Road (NASDAQ: ARDI), a leading provider of mobile resource management services, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued patent number 6,664,922 titled "Method for Distributing Location-Relevant Information Using a Network." This is the eleventh patent awarded to the company. @Road has 39 additional patents pending in jurisdictions throughout the world.

The invention upon which this latest patent is based provides for the processing and delivery of location-relevant data that can be delivered to a GPS-enabled handset, PDA, an @Road Internet Data Terminal (iDTT) or to any Internet-connected PC. In addition to accessing location-relevant information, this patent allows for a method to conduct business and financial transactions, including credit card purchases via a wireless GPS-enabled device.

For example, using a GPS-enabled mobile phone or PDA, an individual could request the location of the nearest service station, specific place of business, or any other point of interest -- including street maps and current traffic conditions.

Based on the location information requested and received, additional location-relevant information could also be sent to the end-user, including coupons and advertising promotions for businesses in the vicinity. Additionally, the patent allows for secure credit card transactions and payments from a GPS-enabled device.
