@Road® Awarded Patent For Distributing Location-Relevant Information

Ninth Patent Expands Company's Intellectual Property Portfolio

FREMONT, CA -- May 20, 2003 -- @Road (Nasdaq: ARDI), a leading provider of mobile resource management services, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued patent number 6,552,682 titled "Method For Distributing Location-Relevant Information Using A Network." This is the ninth patent awarded to @Road and the third issued in 2003. @Road has 36 additional patents pending in jurisdictions throughout the world.

The invention upon which this latest patent is based expands the company's protected technologies to include not only the method of matching mobile worker locations to location-based data already known in a database but also the method of using mobile worker location information to filter generic query responses for relevant information. The ninth patent describes how mobile workers enabled with a wireless device can capture location data and transmit queries for information to a database. Prior to responding to a query, a database application filters the response using the mobile worker's location to include only relevant information. For example, query responses could include proprietary job and customer data or traffic conditions and points of interest in the mobile worker's vicinity.
